VIC Review for 2013

In our first year, 2013 VIC achieved some outstanding successes for a new charity..........

  • VIC gained charity status in March, only 5 months after VIC was established in Rossendale
  • VIC were successful in securing funding from two CCG’s (Clinical Commissioning Group), East Lancashire and   Heywood, Middleton and Rochdale (HMR)
  • VIC were successful in our Award For All Lottery application for work being carried out in Rochdale
  • VIC were successful in securing funding from Heritage Lottery Fund and Whitworth Council for two projects commemorating the start of WW1 in Bacup and Whitworth.
  • VIC were awarded MOD funding from the Armed Forces Community Covenant for our first veterans centre in Haslingden, VIC were gifted a Community Centre in Haslingden, Rossendale..... our permanent base for VIC operations
  • VIC organised two successful Veterans Art Exhibitions, work produced by veterans were exhibited in Rossendale and Bury..... More are planned in 2014.
  • VIC established strong working relationships across public, private and third sector organisations in Lancashire and parts of Greater Manchester
  • VIC members completed a number of courses and are working towards others
  • VIC continued with a range of outdoor activities across Rossendale and Rochdale
  • Outreach has been developed across East Lancashire and Rochdale, and more outreach venues are planned in 2014
  • VIC established a Family Support Group in Rossendale
  • VIC employed our first outreach worker
  • VIC were nominated at the Rossendale Business Awards and won the ‘Not For Profit’ category
  • VIC supported over a 100 individuals and families, and making positive changes to their behaviors and life styles

It would be fair to say that 2013 had been an outstanding year for VIC, and exceeded all the expectations we had at the start of the 2013. This could not have been achieved without the support of our members and the organisations we are working with.
